The initiative aims to provide up to 300 units of free monthly electricity to over 1 crore households across India. The combined central and state solar subsidy details in Uttar Pradesh are as follows:
  • 1 kW Solar System: ₹45,000 total subsidy (₹30,000 Central DBT + ₹15,000 State Subsidy).
  • 2 kW Solar System: ₹90,000 total subsidy (₹60,000 Central DBT + ₹30,000 State Subsidy).
  • 3 kW or higher Solar System: ₹1,08,000 total subsidy (₹78,000 Central DBT + ₹30,000 State Subsidy).
Subsidies are credited directly into the applicant's bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) post-installation and DISCOM inspection.

To qualify for the government solar rooftop subsidy, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a permanent citizen of India.
  2. Must own a residential house with suitable roof area (at least 100 sq. ft. per kW).
  3. Must have an active domestic electricity consumer connection under their own name.
  4. Must have an Aadhaar card linked with their mobile number and dynamic bank account.
